I was just starting to embroider when I first got StitchBuddy for Mac and it was a wonderful tool for my craft then. I've got all this EXPENSIVE elaborate PC stuff and none of it just simply shows my designs before I open them up. "I just love that you have made my life so much simpler with StitchBuddy. It's the single best tool I've ever found for working with Janome embroidery designs, and that includes all of the ones available for the PC. "If you only work with purchased designs, then StitchBuddy is all you need for the Mac. Don't be shy to contact support if you have specific questions - and maybe you'd like to reconsider your rating if StitchBuddy HD turns out as more helpful.I receive many user feedback, including a lot of suggestions for new features. But designs can be edited (not only viewed), maybe you missed to select the stitches for editing? The app description is reflecting StitchBuddy HD's capabilities, and I recommend to consult its help and some video tutorials at its website to have a preview and learn about its handling. This feature would require a much more complex app, way beyond the price of a Pizza and - as far as I know - not available on iPhones / iPads. With StitchBuddy HD you can modify, combine and print existing embroidery files, it does not digitize *new* designs from scratch. If someone reads this and has suggestions, I’m all ears!
I’m in the middle of huge orders for embroidered bunnies and just don’t have hours to spend simply figuring it. Hopefully I can figure it out when I have more time.

I purchased the full version thinking that would unlock more than the view mode, but that did nothing more. It seems very basic (which is fine) and I have yet to find any helpful tutorials for creating designs using it. I’m far from an idiot when it comes to computers, apps and the like, however this app has me so stumped. too bad you are rewarding this opportunity with a one-star review.

how to split a solid colored part into individual ones, or how to select parts of a design for modifications. Please watch some of the video tutorials at to learn e.g. Even reordering colors is out unless you have a really good understanding of the color names in the pattern ( you know how embroidery files go - peacock blue could be grey or could be purple!) because it doesn’t highlight the stitches when you tap a color.
And if you want to select something that’s not in a box or a continuous stitch it ain’t gonna happen. Maybe if you have a simple design it’s not bad but if you’re looking at an in the hoop design good luck figuring out which layer you’re on. Changing colors in general is very difficult because it’s hard to see exactly which stitches you’re changing.
If you can change colors of portions of it without changing the rest I can’t figure it out (for example changing a solid colored word PRIDE to individual letters being different colors). Make sure you carefully read the description! The reviews seem to indicate a usability that does NOT exist.
